The University’s Student Services department now seeks to appoint a Careers Service Manager to provide effective leadership and management of the Careers Service.
Student Services provides impartial and non-judgemental information, advice, guidance and counselling on a broad range of issues. The Service is based in the Bernard King Library and is made up of five teams:
Counselling and Mental Health - Helping students to improve their mental wellbeing, enhance their study and reach their full potential.
Learner Development Service - Offering Support with a wide range of academic skills issues, from writing for essays and dissertations, time management, group work to maths and statistics.
Advisory Service - Providing support for practical and personal issues including finance, housing, international and student welfare issues. In addition, staff support students with dyslexia, and other specific learning difficulties, disabilities and long term conditions.
Abertay Sport - Abertay Sport’s mission is to maintain the position of Abertay University as a leading university for sport and physical activity in participation
Careers Service - Offering careers education, information, advice and guidance for current students and recent graduates.
This role will focus on both strategic development and operational enhancement of the Careers Service whilst also ensuring alignment to the wider department’s and institution’s strategic aims. Alongside management and leadership, the role holder will also be involved in the delivery of core careers service provision through the delivery of careers education, career guidance and careers information.
The ideal candidate will possess a sound knowledge of Careers and Employability best practice with knowledge of the graduate labour market and the needs of graduate employers. They should be able to think and act strategically and have the interpersonal skills to be able to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
