Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. The University now seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Forensic Science within the School of Applied Sciences.
The School of Applied Sciences delivers programmes and applied research in the areas of biomedical science, nursing and counselling, psychology, forensic science, food science, natural built environment and sport and exercise. There has been significant growth in the School's research output in recent years with some subject disciplines leading the rankings for research intensity for modern Universities in Scotland in REF2014.
Reporting to the Head of Division, you will provide specialist subject knowledge and input into teaching and research in forensic science. We particularly welcome forensic scientists with the competence to teach fundamental and forensic biology and with expertise that lends itself to cross-disciplinary ventures between forensic science and psychology, and whose research aligns with the priorities of the Division (although applicants from any cognate area will be considered). We welcome applications from early career researchers, and will consider applications for part-time or flexible working.
You will be expected to take a role in the further advancement of this subject area, through continued development of your research publication profile, external engagement and provision of high quality teaching. In addition you will contribute to the delivery of forensic science modules across the curriculum, supervision of undergraduate dissertations and development of post graduate research. The role requires you to work both independently and collegiately and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and have an ability to take initiative.
