The School of Applied Sciences delivers programmes and applied research in the areas of food and drink, the built and natural environment, forensic and biomedical sciences, mental health nursing, counselling, psychology, and sport and exercise.
The School now seeks to appoint a Research Fellow within the Division of Engineering and Food Science.
Reporting to the PIs Dr Alberto Fiore, Dr Boon-Seang Chu and Dr Adília Lemos, you will have the opportunity to join us working in EU Horizon 2020 SHEALTHY project. You will play a key role in “SHEALTHY - Non-thermal physical technologies to preserve nutritional quality of fresh fruit and vegetables” by bringing your expertise in the field of food science and technology. It is expected that you will have relevant skills to perform the tasks associated with the project and to be able to travel for project meetings.
The successful candidate will:
Candidates should have at least a Masters’ degree in a relevant discipline (a PhD is preferred but not essential). We especially invite applications from those with background and expertise in developing analytical methods using advanced analytical techniques (including HPLC, GCMS, LCMS), basic microbiology analysis. You should have also report writing and communication skills.
The role requires an independent, motivated individual with strong communication and team-working skills. All Abertay employees are expected to demonstrate competencies in Effective Communication, Liaison and Networking, Initiative and Problem Solving, Analysis and Research.
The post should start as soon as possible preferably by the 18th of February 2020.
